  • Roulette

Roulette is one of the most glamorous games in a casino, and online Roulette now lets you play from the comfort of home. Actually, it may not seem like it at first, but an online casino is actually fairer on the player than a live Roulette wheel, since the program can be written to be more consistent than a man-made object.

Roulette itself is a very simple game in concept, but one that’s full of thrills; with everything resting on where the ball’s going to land. It also caters for a wide variety of risk, from 50-50 bets (well, almost!) to betting it all on your lucky number. Unfortunately the tension of the ball spinning and bouncing its way down into a slot is somewhat lost in the online variants, but in recent years, you’ve been able to access live roulette should you so wish.

Roulette is a very old game, having its origins in the 1600’s – supposedly being invented in the search for a perpetual motion machine, however, the form that the game has taken is more recent than that (according to Wikipedia, 1796). This is still pretty old, and as such, over time there are a number of variants that have arisen, though the basics of the game remain the same in each.

Just in case you’ve been living in a cave, roulette is a game with a wheel that has several numbered slots. A ball is spun around the wheel, and players can place bets on which number the ball will land on, whether it will be an odd or even number and much more. The numbers in use are nearly if not always 1-36, and some variants add a zero or two – a move that pushes the odds into the casino’s favour.
