From the moment that the slick intro movie begins, you can tell this is going to be different. Gonzo (the lead character) is a Conquistador looking for the legendary city of El Dorado, and the slot is themed with Aztec/Inca symbols, set in a South American jungle. What’s really innovative about this slot is that Gonzo stands to the side of the playing area, and will interact with you as you play – celebrating wins and more (his moonwalk dance is particularly amusing)!

Gonzo moonwalking to celebrate a big win

The slot itself consists of 5 reels and 20 paylines, and operates similarly to Da Vinci Diamonds in that symbols resulting in winning combinations are removed, and replaced with fresh symbols, which can result in several wins from just one spin :) . Additionally, as additional “avalanches” (as the game calls them) occur, the multiplier ratchets up to a maximum 5x effect.

Coin values can be set to €0.01, €0.02, €0.05, €0.10, €0.20 and €0.50. In addition, there are 5 bet levels, which are effectively the number of coins that you are playing per line. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be an option to alter the number of lines that you play, set to 20 at all times, though we may have missed where that may be.

As usual with Net Entertainment games, the slot interface is very easy to use, and has all the features that you would expect from one of the more established casino software providers; from a comprehensive auto spin control panel, to being able to see what your bet is in actual currency (rather than in coin format which requires a bit of effort to keep track of how much you’re playing with).

Free Spins

The free spins game is triggered by 3 golden blocks appearing from left to right in the game play area. Once these appear, the blocks part, and Gonzo runs through to the “Free Falls” area which has a slightly different background to the regular game, and the multiplier starts at 3x, but can go all the way up to 15x if you get several avalanches in a row. Needless to say, Gonzo gets to boogie quite a lot here, with everything from a little wiggle, the robot to the previously mentioned moonwalk.

Special Symbols

Gonzo’s Quest only has one special symbol in addition to the free fall activation symbol – this is a wild symbol, that acts as any other symbol in the game, including the free fall symbol.

Summary

Gonzo’s Quest is a great example of what can be done with the application of gaming technology to Online Slots. The addition of Gonzo, with his interactions and celebrations, really add to the experience and enjoyment of playing this slot. The gameplay is good, with small wins here and there to keep you engaged (the animations help too), until you hit the bigger wins and the free fall game. Definitely one you should try at least once.

Da Vinci Diamondshttp://www.oggs.com/online-slots/slot-reviews/da-vinci-diamonds/ http://www.oggs.com/online-slots/slot-reviews/da-vinci-diamonds/#comments Tue, 13 Jul 2010 13:20:59 +0000 admin http://www.oggs.com/?p=4922 Continue reading... ]]> Da Vinci Diamonds is one of the more popular Wagerworks slots. It is themed on the legendary painter and the symbols used in the game are based on his works (including the Mona Lisa) and several diamonds/gems (hence the name!). The slot itself has 20 lines, but the interesting feature of the slot, are the so called “Tumbling Reels”.

These essentially mean that the slot does not have a fixed set of reels as a mechanical slot might, rather, the symbols are dropped at random from the top of the screen into the playing area. No different so far, but the shtick is that when you get a winning combination, the relevant symbols disappear, and new ones fall to fill the gaps, potentially resulting in additional wins (it’s actually pretty cool when you get a few wins off one spin!).

The Tumbling Reels feature means that winning combinations disappear and new symbols fall to fill in the gaps

The Tumbling Reels feature: Winning combinations disappear and new symbols drop in to fill in the gaps

Gameplay

There are some minor niggles with the gameplay – an autospin feature would be nice (didn’t see it if there was one), plus it would be useful to be able to skip the winning sequence – at the moment there are a few seconds where you can’t do anything but wait for it to bring back the ‘play’ button, though I’m not sure if this is a feature of the game, or to do with the speed of my internet connection. These are relatively minor, but would be annoying on a longer session.

Bonus

There is no bonus game per se; however, there are additional symbols that come into use during the free spins round. Initially activated by 3 ‘bonus’ symbols in a row appearing on a given payline, additional free spins can be triggered up to a maximum of 300 spins, but you’ll have to be pretty lucky to pull that off.

Summary

All in all though, this is a nice slot to play, and we can see why it’s one of the more popular games played. You get regular hits as you spin which keeps you involved, and the Tumbling Reels is a great feature. I played for quite some time without hitting the free spins feature, but this was not the end of the world for me, and didn’t put me off – it’s just how it goes sometimes!

You should try Da Vinci Diamonds at Virgin Casino.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfarehttp://www.oggs.com/online-slots/slot-reviews/call-of-duty-4/ http://www.oggs.com/online-slots/slot-reviews/call-of-duty-4/#comments Mon, 12 Jul 2010 14:48:23 +0000 admin http://www.oggs.com/?p=4907 Continue reading... ]]> Based on the extremely popular computer game, Call of Duty 4 is one of the most advanced slot games out there. The graphics simply blow away any other slot that I’ve seen to date, and that’s before you even get to the bonus game. Call of Duty 4 starts off as looking like a regular slot. It’s got 5 reels and 25 paylines – familiar enough, but it’s once you start playing that you really begin to notice the difference. The icons are military based – grenades, guns and bullets, but there are also screenshots from the game itself.

As you play, the reels spin, but at random intervals a soldier will run across the board and plant a bomb, or a grenade will be thrown in from off screen. When these detonate, one of the symbols explodes into a ‘soldier’ icon, and an animation from the game plays. These little features and effects really add to the game and greatly improve the basic slot play.

A soldier plants a bomb on the board during play

Bonus

3 or more ‘Call of Duty’ symbols activates the special bonus round. This involves you shooting at enemies (in the style of the video game) in order to win extra bonuses. These come in the form of free spins, multipliers applied to the free spins and can also be an actual cash bonus.

The bonus round has a number of different locations, which seem to be selected at random. You play from the point of view of the soldier and control the rifle with the mouse. The bonus game plays like a game of Time Crisis (for those that remember playing that game for hours down the arcades), where you are stationary, and the various baddies pop out from hiding and take pot shots at you.

The bonus game in Call of Duty 4 involves an arcade style shootout

The bonus game in Call of Duty 4 involves an arcade style shootout

You’ll get extra points for complicated shots, and as such, this bonus game rewards hand-eye coordination, rather than any particular skill, strategy or luck. It won’t be for everyone, but if you like that sort of thing, it’s a refreshing change from the more traditional bonus rounds. Once you’re out, i.e. shot by the baddies, you’ll get to take your free spins on the board.

Summary

An excellent slot, highly engaging and stunning graphics – Call of Duty 4’s violent theme will not be for everybody, but it is an excellent example of how a slot can incorporate advanced graphics and bonus games to enhance what is already an extremely entertaining experience. Highly recommended.

Thunderstruck 2 – Video Slothttp://www.oggs.com/online-slots/slot-reviews/thunderstruck-2-video-slot/ http://www.oggs.com/online-slots/slot-reviews/thunderstruck-2-video-slot/#comments Wed, 05 May 2010 11:24:32 +0000 admin http://www.oggs.com/?p=4213 Continue reading... ]]> Thunderstruck 2 is one of the most hotly anticipated, online slot game releases for some time from the team at Microgaming. As you may have guessed from the title, Thunderstruck 2 is the sequel to the highly successful slot of the same name; and given all the excitement from the online casinos (who seem to be falling over themselves with promotions for this), Thunderstruck 2 looks set to follow in good style.

As with most Microgaming video slots, Thunderstruck 2 has 5 reels, however this time, there are no paylines in the traditional sense; rather, the slot will pay out for any valid combination from left to right – effectively you are playing with all lines active at all times. This results in a massive 243 potential ways for a win to be registered in the game (we’re not going to work through the maths for this though!).

Special Features

Thunderstruck 2 builds on its predecessor, retaining the Norse god theme, but adding some new features to the game.

The Great Hall of Spins

Well, with a name like that, you’re going to expect big things. Not just a hall, but a great hall, and it’s one that doesn’t disappoint. This is the destination for your free spins game, triggered by 3 or more of the Thor’s Hammer symbols. With 2 hammer symbols on the board, the game ratchets up the tension nicely, playing what I would call “adrenaline music” and delaying the settlement of the final reels, which is disappointing when a 3rd symbol doesn’t arrive, but gives a great feeling when it does deliver.

Here’s the schtick. Each time you manage to activate the free spins feature, you gain a “point”, and points mean (even more) prizes. Eventually.

For every 5 activations of the free spins feature, you unlock an additional Norse god, each of which has a different free spins option associated with them, and though the later ones are unlocked, you can still opt for previous free spin options if you should so choose. The gods and their free spin features are as follows:-

 • Valkyrie – This is the first free spins option that is available to you on entering the Great Hall of Spins. Selecting this option grants you 10 free spins, where each win has a 5x multiplier applied to it.
 • Loki – The second of 4 options, Loki unlocks 15 free spins, but you lose the 5x multiplier. Instead there is a Wild Magic symbol which randomly transforms some of the symbols into other substitutes. Additionally, only a minimum of 2 of the Thor’s Hammer symbols are required to activate additional free spins.
 • Odin – Once you unlock Odin, you can opt for 20 free spins, which come with “Odin’s Ravens” (nearly wrote raisins, which would be weird). These randomly turn symbols into multipliers, of either 2x or 3x, though if both activate, these combine into a 6x multiplier.
 • Thor – Appropriate for a game called Thunderstruck, Thor, the Norse god of thunder is the ultimate bonus that can be unlocked in the Great Hall of Spins. 25 free spins with what Microgaming are calling Rolling Reels. There is no set multiplier here, but consecutive wins increase the multiplier up to a maximum of 5x.

The Great Hall of Spins rewards long term play of Thunderstruck 2. Not sure when or if the Great Hall resets, and we’ll check back on it regularly to see if it does, but if not, this means that once you have unlocked the higher levels of the Great Hall, these will be available to you each time that you play – a significant bonus for the long term player (though the free spins didn’t trigger all that often when I played).

Wildstorm

This is a randomly activated feature which turns an entire reel wild, and can affect upto all five reels! Once activated, Thor jumps down onto the screen and when he decided to jump back off, one or more of the reels will be turned wild, following which you will get one free spin to utilise these symbols. One reel is ok, but get more than one towards the left of the screen, since there are so many ways to win, the wilds can result in some big wins.

Track your progress

Thunderstruck 2 records your wins, turning the paytable gold each time you obtain one of the winning combinations. To be honest, I’m not quite sure what this feature does, other than highlight how rarely the higher paying symbols appear compared to the others.

Key Symbols

Thor’s Hammer – this activates the free spins feature, based on a minimum of 3 such symbols appearing anywhere on the screen. As noted above, once 2 symbols have appeared on the leftmost reels, the game increases the tension music and delays settling the final reels.

Thunderstruck 2 Logo – This is a wild symbol, substituting for any other, and multiplying any win taht uses this symbol by 2. It’s also the highest paying symbol on the paytable.

My Play

My play was a bit slow for me, with not many special features activating during the session. I think we all know that sometimes a slot can be a bit “quiet”, and it’s early days for this one. Certainly, it will take time to get a feel for the gameplay – it seems to be more of a long term play rather than a quick winner, but this is based on my initial sessions – I’m probably just on an unlucky streak at the moment.

That said, the graphics are pretty good as you would expect from Microgaming, especially for a video slot that has been hyped up by the industry as much as Thunderstruck 2 has, and the special features, particularly the Great Hall of Spins appear to be well thought out.

The popular Jenga block game is just as exciting to play in video slot form as it is as a physical game!

You can play this three dimensional Party Casino slot for a penny per line up to $10.00 per line and choose to play nine to eighteen lines at a time.

Unlike any other slot I’ve played, the pay table is determined by color lines, layer bombs and magic color blocks and not any character-themed symbols. Each color has a specific coin win value.

A bonus block is awarded for each block in a winning combination and added to the top of the tower replacing randomly removed, original blocks. Magic blocks transform the colors of the surrounding blocks to achieve a match. Layer bombs remove full layers from the tower and replace them with new blocks on top.

Should the tower collapse it will trigger a free game round.

My Play

I began play with $25 betting ten cents on all eighteen lines for a total spin of $1.80. Within a total of 72 spins, the magic color blocks completed eight wins for me, the tower fell three times awarding me with extra games, and I had some nice layer wins between $9.00 & $71.70! I ended play ahead by $56.00.

Overall

Jenga is sure to bring you back after playing it just one time! It’s dimensional, unique, exciting, & definitely addictive fun to play! You’ve really got to play it to experience it. A thumbs-up on this one for sure!

Note: Since writing this review – SEGA’s online casino has closed.

Another unique SEGA video slot that is sure to please many of your senses! Virtua Fighter Reels offers so much play for you money… it’s really out of this world!

Featuring a stationary reel area and a moving background, this 20-line, 5-reel video slot can be enjoyed for as little as a penny per line up to $5 per line with a ten coin max bet per line.

The wild symbol of the game is the Virtua Fighter logo and substitutes for all other symbols of the game with the exception of the bonus and scatter symbols to complete a winning combination for you. Should you be lucky enough to get five wild symbols on a payline, you’ll be awarded an amazing 10,000 coins for that win!

The trophy scatter symbol of the game will pay you even money on your triggering bet if two appear anywhere on your screen. A nice payer that will extend your play when it does hit for you.

The bonus game on this slot is triggered when two fist symbols appear on reels one and five at the same time. Play of the bonus will award you up to twenty free spins with a ten time multiplier. Prior to play of the bonus games, you’re also awarded four times your triggering bet just for triggering the feature! That plus your free spin wins certainly add up when triggered. Play of the bonus begins with choosing one of three characters to determine the number of free spins you’ve won.

After choosing your free spin character, you’ll then choose an enemy to fight which will determine your free spin multiplier. More free spins can be won during free spin infinitely. Additonal free spins are played with the same multiplier as your triggering spin.

My Play

Starting play with $50, I played all twenty lines at a penny per line and the ten coin max making my spin bet $2.00. Within a total of 101 spins, the wild symbol completed a total of 13 winning combinations for me, the scatter paid me even money on my triggering bet five times and twice I got three scatters which awarded me a win of $24 each time. The free spin bonus game triggered once for me during my play. I won $32 for the game win itself and was awarded twenty free spins with a ten time multiplier. My game win plus bonus play win totalled $215.00 and I then ended play a winner!

Overall

SEGA Games has; without a doubt in my opinion; set the bar high with their video slots. This is the third SEGA video slot I’ve played and I must say I’ve enjoyed this slot as much as the other two. Absolutely a pleasure to play. It definitely kept my interest and was pleasing to my senses. I really enjoyed the wild, scatter pay and bonus free spins of this slot. Definitely a slot that I would love to come back and play again. Kudos to you SEGA Games!

First released as a comic book character, then a movie series, now a new Microgaming video slot, Hellboy becomes another hit!

You’re sure to enjoy the short opening movie that introduces you to this new 20 line, 5-reel video slot from Microgaming. You can enjoy play on this slot for as little as a penny per line, up to twenty-five cents per line, with a maximum bet of ten coins per line.

There are a total of ten symbols during regular play… five symbols are based on characters from the Hellboy series, while the remaining five are card values from ten to ace. The highest paying symbol of the game during regular play is the Hellboy (character) symbol and this will award you 5,000 coins if five appear on a payline.

The wild symbol of the game is the Hellboy (worded) symbol and will substitute for all other symbols of the game with the exception of the scatter symbol in helping you complete a winning combination.

The scatter, the fist symbol, will award you double your triggering bet if two appear anywhere on the screen. Three, four or five scatters will trigger the Underworld Bonus feature.

During bonus play your mission is to locate and secure the hidden relic of power guarded by ferocious beasts. Finding team members as you go through levels will award you prizes. Blocked tunnels will end your mission and you’ll not advance to the next level. Should you complete all levels you’ll reach the chamber of fire and claim the relic by shooting at a crystal that surrounds it.

Another feature of this slot is the Supermode play. Randomly triggered, the feature will award you ten free spins with three randomly chosen wilds that are held in place throughout free spin play. The Underworld Bonus and Supermode features cannot be triggered/re-triggered during Supermode play.

My Play

Beginning with $25, I played this slot at a penny on all twenty lines and ten coins per line for a bet spin of $2.00. Within a total of 46 spins, the wild completed five winning combinations for me and the bonus feature was triggered twice. I got to level three on the first bonus play and won $38. On the second bonus play I revealed “win all” characters on two separate levels and made it to the relic. My win of that play was $156!

Ahead now, I increased my bet to $4.00 per spin. Within a total of 22 spins at this value, the wild completed one winning combination for me with a $10 win on that, and the scatter doubled my bet three times. Neither the bonus or Supermode feature was triggered. I ended play on this slot ahead by $100.

Overall

Hellboy is definitely one of the better slots released by Microgaming for a while in my opinion. I like the familiar theme, the bonus feature and; although not triggered during my play; the Supermode feature. A slot I would recommend everyone try at least once and one I’ll definitely play again.

RTG software online casinos accept players from the US and North America and all over the world.
This slot is the jackpot version of the long-lived, ever popular, Cleopatra’s Gold video slot on the RTG platform.

Detailed review:

Although the theme, symbols and free spin feature are the same as the original version, this jackpot version has a fixed value of play for $1.00 per spin and an additional five lines of play, as opposed to twenty lines of play and the ability to change the number of lines you play and the coin value as seen in the original version.

The Egyptian theme, the soothing music, and the animation of the symbols make this slot most enjoyable to play. The beautiful Cleopatra is the wild symbol of the game and substitutes for all other symbols with the exception of the pyramid scatter symbol. Watch as she comes to life when she appears on a payline to complete your win and double your prize!
Cleopatra is the top paying symbol of the game. If you’re fortunate enough to get five Cleopatras on a payline, you’ve hit the jackpot, and will be awarded the current random jackpot shown on the screen!

This slot, like all RTG Real Series Slots, has a bonus free spin feature that is triggered when three or more scatter pyramid symbols appear anywhere on the screen. Not only will you be awarded for the scatter win, you’ll also receive fifteen free spins with a x3 multiplier! Plus, the feature can be re-triggered during free spin play as well.
Should you get only two scatter symbols, you’ll still be pleased with the payout. As the top of the pyramid lifts up, spins, and glows, two scatters pays you double your bet.

My Play
I began play with $50 and as is generally the case, walked away a winner!
I spun those reels 107 times, triggering the free spin feature on the last pin. During my free spin play, the feature re-triggered and I won a total of $74.12 in the end.
During regular play of the game, two scatter pyramids appeared seven times for me (doubling my bet), and Cleopatra completed winning combinations for me twenty-five times!

Overall
This slot, be it the original or this jackpot version, has never failed me in coming out ahead … or at the very least, sustaining my play time in all the years that I’ve played it.
It’s not often that I come across a slot in which the wild symbol can be so consistently dependable to arrive and complete a payline. This is the slot that I usually begin play at when I visit an RTG casino because it always seems to increase my purse right from the start, obviously, giving me more money to play with which equals more chances to win with those additional funds to spin with!
This is most definitely a slot that I highly recommend you play.

If you play all 15 lines then aim to cashout at 2 or 3 x your deposit rather than aim too high. My tip would be play it at 9 lines with a slightly higher bet.
