Monopoly is one of those games that we all recognise from our childhood, so theming a slot on the board game seems like a sensible idea, in-fact, at the time of writing, it’s one of the most popular slots at Grosvenor Casino. The slot feels very familiar on first loading, helped of course by the iconic symbols and board design of the Monopoly board itself which are used throughout the game.
The slot from IGT (formerly Wagerworks) has 5 reels and 9 paylines, which you can stake from £0.20 up to £50, giving a rich max bet figure of £450! The symbols in use are from the UK Monopoly board, with the likes of Piccadilly and Mayfair making appearances, Monopoly money, as well as somewhat bizarrely, fruit. There is a wild symbol, which is the jolly Monopoly man throwing piles of money up into the air & it is also the joint highest paying symbol in the game, paying out 12,500x the line bet for 5 on a payline – not bad!
The gameplay is pretty snappy, and we didn’t even miss the autoplay feature. The lack of a gamble option keeps things simple too. Whilst we didn’t end up on our play, we did come back a few times thanks to a few good results on the bonus rounds. It’s quite enjoyable and we can see why it’s one of the more popular games.
The Monopoly slot game has several bonus rounds that can be activated; the “Community Chest” instant bonus and the “Pass Go” bonus which contains “Free Parking” bonus, “Go” bonus and the “Get out of Jail” bonus – all based on classic elements from the original.
Community Chest Instant Bonus
3 of these symbols, anywhere in the playing area, will activate a reward based on the total bet for that spin.
Pass Go bonus
3 of the bonus ‘dice’ symbols on a payline triggers this bonus. You start by selecting one of the dice, which reveals the number of rolls that you get. For what you might ask. Good question. Once you start this round, you are taken to a miniature Monopoly board, where you get to use the rolls of the dice you’ve just won.
In this game, it starts with the line bet that triggered the feature, then multiplies it by the “Awards” – the feature starts you out at 10x, but you gather more as you progress round the board. You can also get bonus multipliers, which work exactly as advertised!
This feature is where the game pays out the big bucks, with some potentially massive multipliers floating around, depending on how lucky you are – our first time, we got 187! That’s why the game pops up with the text “Bonus Awards Based on Bet Size. Bet Big!” – and with a maximum line bet of £50, there’s the possibility of some big wins – if you’ve got the balls wallet to stick it out.
As noted above, there are 3 sub-bonuses that can be activated in this feature.
- “Get out of Jail” bonus – Land on this square and get 3 chances to roll. Roll a double on the first to get a x5 multiplier, do it on the second to get a x3, and the third for a x2. Once you hit a double, this mini feature ends and you return to the board (if you have any rolls left).
- “Free Parking” bonus – Land on this square and you’ll get a random award amount
- “Go” bonus – This has 3 parts to it
- Land on the “Go” square to get a 2x multiplier
- Pass it once, and each deed’s (i.e. property square’s) award is doubled when you land on it
- Pass it 2 or more times, and each deed’s award is tripled
Simple and enjoyable, with a bonus round that rewards gutsy play. It might wipe you out to get there, but hit the “Pass Go” bonus on a big spin and you’re away. There’s a reason it’s one of the more popular games on IGT/Wagerworks casinos. Try it now
