With a slightly unusual premise, and an even more unusual playing dynamic, Fruit Warp is an interesting video slot from Thunderkick. Instead of the usual reels, the fruit (which consist the symbols in the game) float, positioned seemingly at random (it’s always nine, in the pattern of a four and a five as you’d find on a dice – see the screenshot above this review for what we mean), in the middle of some green gloop.
So if there aren’t any reels or paylines, how do you win? Easy, you just have to get three matching fruits anywhere on the screen to get a win. Four fruits activate what they call a ‘portal respin’ which basically means all the other fruits on the board are replaced with new ones. Finally, 5 or more matching symbols activate a ‘fruit mode’
Each type of fruit has it’s own ‘mode’ which have a ‘warp meter’ at the bottom of the screen. There will be a number of free spins, based on the number of fruit that activate the feature, plus 1 additional free spin is awarded every time at least one fruit of the current mode appears on a spin.
On top of that you’ll progress along the meter at the bottom of the screen, but this is based on the total number of fruit that appear. The further right that you get, you’ll be awarded higher multipliers, though only when you pass certain positions along the line.
