Candy Cottage – Online Slot Review
Get ready to fill your sweet tooth for winnings playing Rival Software’s newest online video slot release… Candy Cottage!
Based on the childhood fairy tale of Hansel & Gretel, this twenty line, five-reel video slot can be played at a penny per line up to twenty-five cents per line with a maximum of ten coins per line bet.
There are nine symbols during regular play of the game. Three symbols; an old lady, a boy, and a girl, only require two on a payline to be awarded a win. The remaining six require a minimum of three on a payline. The highest paying symbol of the game is the old lady and will award you 2,500 coins if five appear on a payline.
The game’s wild symbol is an expanding stove and is found on reel three only. It substitutes for all other symbols of the game (with the exception of the scatter and bonus symbols) to complete a winning combination, and when it’s used to complete a win, you’ll be awarded double the amount.
The colourful candy cottage is the scatter symbol of the game. Three or more cottages; appearing anywhere on your screen; will award you ten free spins with a three time multiplier.
The bonus feature of the game is triggered if three or more cage symbols appear anywhere on your screen. The object of the bonus game is to eat as much of the falling candy that you can! Catch the candy by moving your mouse side to side which, in turn, moves the open-mouthed boy character across your screen. Be careful how you centre him under the falling candy because the candy needs to fall into the centre of his mouth. Don’t let it hit his teeth or it will bounce off! The more candy you eat… the more you win!
Starting with $50, playing all 20 lines at a penny per line and ten coins per line, my bet per spin was $2.00. Within a total of 59 spins, the expanding wild completed a total of five winning combinations for me and the bonus feature was activated three times. Although the free spin feature wasn’t triggered, I was pleased with my bonus wins of $64, $72, & $50.
A fun theme… an expanding wild… a free spin feature and a fun to play bonus game just can’t be beat! At first the slot wasn’t doing much for me at all regarding winning combos but after the 11th spin, it became fairly consistent. I was a bit disappointed that the free spin feature didn’t trigger, but the bonus game payouts certainly made up for that and the expanding wild wins did as well. I enjoyed the colourful, childhood character memories of this slot & the animation as well. Definitely a game I will return to again and recommend that everyone give it a try.
Two thumbs-up on this slot, Rival!
