The Tote is a UK betting institution, and if you’re looking for a casino that comes together with a sports betting provider, then Totesport is a great place for you to choose.
Main Licence:- Alderney
Independent Certifications:- none
Totesport’s Casino tab is licenced by Alderney, whilst their Games tab is licenced by the UK’s Gambling Commission. Both of these are well-regarded regulatory bodies, so you can take a lot of comfort from the fact that they’ve managed to comply with both sets of rules.
Additional comfort can be taken from the unique historical background of the organisation. Set up by no less than Winston Churchill in 1928 to offer a safe alternative to illegal betting shops to the public, “the Tote” was under UK government control until it was sold to Betfred in 2011. Although not as ‘safe’ as a government-backed enterprise, Betfred still provides a solid foundation for the operations at Totesport’s casino.
Main Software:- Playtech
There are two main software options available. On the main casino tab there software in use is Playtech, offered in both download and instant play versions, whilst on the Games tab, there are games from IGT available to play only within your browser. If there’s mobile gaming available, it’s not immediately obvious - we didn’t spot any at the time of writing up this review.
Totesport also offers other services. As noted earlier in this review, Totesport’s origins are in the world of betting and their other services reflect this (in that the casino and games are an add on to the betting services). If you go to almost any UK horseracing course you’ll find a Totesport betting counter, as well as being able to find them at physical locations on the highstreet.
Totesport has the exclusive licence in the UK to run pooled bets on horseracing and there’s a whole tab dedicated to this.
Banking methods at Totesport are fairly limited compared to some other online casinos, however, for their target market of UK customers, the options available make sense, though they lack some of the key, what we might call fast withdrawal methods like NETeller or PayPal, though they do accept Skrill.
Customer Support Team Availability:- 7am-11pm
The customer support team is contactable through just three methods
The team are available 7 days a week, but only during the hours of 7am to 11pm.
Phone: 0800 666 100
Post: Customer Service Department, The Spectrum, 56-58 Benson Road, Birchwood, WA3 7PQ, UK
No VIP or loyalty program noted at the time of writing this review.
The casino is an add on service to the betting and not the other way round. Whilst there’s a good selection of games on offer, if you’re not looking to bet on sports, there are probably better options to choose from, including their parent company; Betfred.
