Liverpool vs Everton
Two teams who had contrasting fortunes in midweek European action. Liverpool were all set for a, “famous European night at Anfield”, but in the end, Spartak Moscow opted to lower the tone. Everton by contrast, played such a meaningless fixture that even a manager who used to regularly travel to Qatar for a chat with Richard Keys, couldn’t be arsed to make it. Can Everton stop the rampant reds machine upfront? We suspect not. Big Sam is the master of this sort of situation, but until January and the chance to bring Kevin Davies in, he is stuck with what he has – a tippy tappy, namby pamby types. 3-0 Liverpool then, probably with Everton having a player sent off. 15/2 on the Betfair Sportsbook will do us.
Manchester United vs Manchester City
Plenty of historic tussles between these two managers to look through in an attempt to work out which way this one will go. But it may be more instructive to consider Mourinho’s recent trip to Stamford Bridge, a match in which he would have been itching to park his bus, but seemingly got led astray by criticism of that very tactic at Anfield. Neither fish not foul in the end – United got beat. The same pressure will be intensified in an even bigger match on Sunday, plus the need to start eating in to City’s lead. It surely wont end well. 2-1 City is 8/1 on the Betfair Sportsbook, so get right on it
