4 to Watch

France vs Germany

How appropriate that on the 100th anniversary of the greatest Franco-German battle of them all, the two sides get together for a kickabout at the World Cup. Instead of No Man’s Land however, the setting is No Black Man’s Land – the achingly middle class Maracana, a world removed from the favelas of Rio.

All the talk pre-match has been of German sickness, with as many as seven Nationalmannschaften feeling a little bit under the weather. That could be enough for France, and we like them at 3.15 to win inside 90 minutes.

Brazil vs Colombia

Ah Colombia – the team for those who discovered Belgium about six months ago, but have now lost interest. And whilst Ospina, Cuadrado and Cha-mes Rodridguez all deserve places in a World Cup XI thus far, the rickety backline has yet to be tested at all. Indeed, when the Ivory Coast made a bit of an effort in their second match, Colombia looked vulnerable. Neymar and Oscar to have a field day, and Brazil to win to nil at 3s with our friends at Betfair.

Argentina vs Belgium

Two teams who have largely shunned first halves in this World Cup. Hence take the HT 0-0 at 2.5.

Holland vs Costa Rica

Lovely as it would be to see the Ricans (as nobody calls them) reach the last four of the World Cup, surely in the process becoming the least fancied side ever to do so, Holland are simply too pragmatic to slip up in this one. Take them HT/FT at 2.44 with Betfair.
