4 to Watch

It is one thing chopping down trees to proclaim the birth of a new King. Or to inform the nation that Kym Marsh (us neither) is having marital problems. Again. But surely the acreage of botanical beauty being given the heave-ho purely to speculate what the ‘Gareth Bale camp’ are thinking, is less acceptable in the modern age of climate change.

Still, without transfer tittle-tattle, the back pages of our papers would be full of things like the Tour de France and Andy Murray. And who wants that. So, in the full knowledge that NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET in the four big transfer stories of the summer, here is our guide to ensure that it is not just agents coining it, if the moves do ever come off.

1) Luis Suarez

As the famous old proverb goes, ‘he who has no qualms about sinking teeth into an opponent’s flesh in Holland, and then repeating his actions in another country, will have no qualms about repeating strike actions used previously in Holland to force a move in another country.’

Take the 1.62 with Betfair that he isn’t still a Liverpool player at the end of the transfer window.

2) Gareth Bale

Tricky this one. Immovable Daniel Levy against the juggernaut of Florentino Perez. The only real value is perhaps Ladbroke’s 80/1 on him ending up at PSG of all places. Nobody wins that way, which is often Levy’s favoured outcome, albeit inadvertently.

3) Wayne Rooney

Having missed out on Thiago and Fabregas, surely David Moyes can’t let United’s heartbeat leave too. Rooney stays put – hammer the 5/6 on Paddy Power.

4) Christian Benteke

Even a modern-day footballer wouldn’t leave the same summer as signing a four-year contract, right? You-what? Oh. Nevertheless, Paul Lambert is one tough cookie, and Benteke is going nowhere. Buy some money at 1.03 on Betfair.
