Rugby World Cup Semi-Finals 2011

Dragons, Cocks and Wallabies.

Wales v France

The French may have won the last three meetings between these two, but the Welsh form to-date in this tournament (including that narrow defeat against the Boks) has forced the bookies give them the edge in this one.

In a nervy semi-final, even between two nations who love playing flowing rugby, the early scoring may well be dominated by penalties and drop goals. This should be to the benefit of Wales and they have to be good value to be the first to ten points, at 4/5 with Ladbrokes.

Australia v New Zealand

Many imagined and perhaps hoped that this would be the final, but the surprise defeat to Ireland has left the Wallabies facing the All Blacks a week earlier than they would have liked.

Three of the last four clashes between the sides have been won by a margin of five points or less, so the 7/4 with Blue Square on a Kiwi victory between 1-12 points looks the standout bet. Equally, consider at the +8 handicap that Bet365 offer on Australia at even money.

Having had a far tougher tournament thus far, there is however good reason to believe the Aussie defence will tire first. Given that the last time these two played Australia dominated the first half before almost seeing their 20-3 half time lead overturned, it would be rude not to look at the Australia HT / New Zealand FT bet, which is an attractive 13/2 price with both SportingBet and Bet365.
