Rugby League Challenge Cup Final 2011

Southerners look away now.
What a day to be a Wigan fan. 40,000 are expected in London for their Carnegie Challenge Cup Final against the Leeds Rhinos, whilst anyone left will surely head up earlier to the DW for the lunchtime visit of QPR, where they could see their football team rocket into the Champions League places. One suspects that if any males fancy a pop at the women of Wigan, Saturday may be the day when the ladies are home alone.
The Rhinos arrive at Wembley on the back of a disappointing 32-22 defeat at Harlequins in the Super League, in which they lie 6th. The Warriors meanwhile, are sitting pretty at the top of the table and arrive in London on the back of 11 straight victories in all competitions.
The bookies unsurprisingly have Wigan as firm favourites (2/9 with Ladbrokes) whilst Leeds can be backed at 5.4 on Betfair. However, the two sides drew 22-22 in an Engage Super League Round 8 fixture at Headingley last April whilst Wigan pipped an equally thrilling contest 26-24 in July, which could suggest the game will be tighter than the odds suggest.
The last five finals have been won by an average of 19.5 points and given Leeds have a reputation for falling at the final hurdle (they’ve lost four Challenge Cup finals since 2000), we think the bet of the weekend is Wigan at -10 on the handicap markets, which you can back at 1.80 with Bet365.
