Premiership Preview – 20th December 2011

The two bottom clubs face off at Ewood Park tonight, in a match that should signal a sack to rival Santa’s, for whichever manager gets beat. Such is the enormous pressure on both these clubs, playing at home may in fact be a disadvantage and the only value is in backing Bolton at 5/2 with Ladbrokes.

Wednesday sees Arsenal travel to Aston Villa on the back of their defeat at Manchester City – their first in eight Premier League games. Even with Darren Bent’s possible inclusion after taking time off to go shopping, Arsenal should be confident given the frontman can’t buy a goal right now. The Gunners to win is an attractive enough price at 8/11 with Bet365, but 5/2 to win to nil with Blue Square is our tip.

Defensively, Swansea have taken to the Premier League like ducks to water. They’ve managed an incredible eight clean sheets already and in Everton they face a side that have scored just 16 goals so far this season. It will be tight and the 9/1 with Bet365 on ‘no goal-scorer’ seems great value. A safer bet could be under 2.5 goals at 4/5 with Bet365.

Manchester City recorded their first clean sheet in nine league games with the 1-0 victory over Arsenal, but we feel both sides to score is the value when they face Stoke tomorrow night. It is available at 5/6 with Ladbrokes whilst Man City to win 3-1 looks nice at 10/1 with the same firm.
