Premier League Preview – 4 to Watch

This entry was posted on Friday, August 17th, 2012

The brash optimism of Tottenham supporters, Lawro tipping the three promoted clubs to go straight back down, and Arsenal selling their best players. This can only mean one thing folks – the football season is back, back, back. And here are four bets to get your 2012/13 off to a winning start.

1) Our best bet this weekend is QPR to beat Swansea City – an even money shot at Blue Square. QPR have strengthened well over the summer, with Hoilett, Park, Nelson and Fabio all brought in whilst Swansea by contrast have lost their manager and Joe Allen. We can’t advise anything but backing the side which won their final five home games last season.

2) Whilst Arsenal have lost their captain, Sunderland tailed off horribly at the end of last season and have failed to add significantly (sorry Saha) to their ranks. We think the post Van Persie Arsenal will start with a victory and are happy to go with the Gunners at -1 on the handicap, which is 6/5 with Ladbrokes.

3) Fulham are another home side we are happy to support this weekend, up against a club that could struggle this season. At 5/6 with Blue Square we like Martin Jol’s men to beat Norwich. Back Hugo Rodallega, scorer of a wonderful opening day screamer three years ago, to ingratiate himself early on with the Cottage faithful.

4) The first 5.30pm kick off of the new season sees AVB’s Spurs travel to Newcastle. Man City were the only side to keep a clean sheet at Newcastle in 2012whilst Spurs’ new boss likes his attacking football, so both teams to score at 8/11 with Bet365 looks a cracking bet.
