Prem Preview – Chelsea vs Manchester United (5th Feb 2012)

Whilst the week’s news has been dominated by action in the court, it is the footballing judges who will be on duty this weekend. Have United got what it takes to win the title? Well if they can win at the Bridge, where City failed just a few weeks ago, there may well be no further questions to answer.
Though United’s League form has picked up since the Blackburn debacle, it has been almost a decade since Ferguson led his men to victory at Stamford Bridge in a league match and that makes the 7/4 on the Champions taking three points, far from appealing.
Six of the last seven meetings between these two in all competitions have seen both sides get on the score-sheet, and given Chelsea have kept just two home league clean sheets all season, both sides to score at 1.64 on Betfair seems fair.
For those that like the over 2.5 goals market, bear in mind that nine of Chelsea’s 11 home games so far this season have been ‘overs’, which is a value 41/40 bet with bet365.
Interestingly, there hasn’t been a draw between the two sides in any of their last eight meetings, so if we’re pressed to call an outcome, we’d back Chelsea at 6/4 with Ladbrokes. Additionally, we can’t resist a small punt on a repeat of the scoreline from the last time these two met for a league match at Stamford Bridge. 2-1 Chelsea is 9/1 with Blue Square.
