Now a biannual Middle England event.

Just when the posh folk had all finished jumping off the tennis bandwagon, it is time for them to clamber back on board. Three weeks after Roger Federer and Serena Williams left SW19 victorious, they return to battle, and this time they can wear what they want. As long as it doesn’t have a PEPSI logo on it.

In the Women’s, we like the look of the favourite Serena, a 3.05 shot on Betfair. She was imperious in London a few weeks back and has every chance of avenging a disappointing three set quarter final defeat to Elena Dementieva in Beijing four years ago.

From the chasing pack, the German beauty Angelique Kerber has been one of the most impressive on the tour this season, and made the final four at Wimbledon. At 40.0 on Betfair she is a great ‘back to lay’ option, and is also widely available at 11/2 to secure a medal, which we think is a fair price.

In the Men’s, Roger Federer’s route to the final looks all too easy due to the injured Nadal, with Murray, Djokovic, Tsonga and Berdych all competing in the other half. However, at 7/4 with Betfred, he doesn’t represent value. Don’t forget that with the games only three sets (except the Men’s final), he will be unable to afford some of the slow starts we saw in SW19.

The same sadly could also be said of Andy Murray, who often likes to go a couple of sets down on grass before finding his game.
