Making the SPL look Exciting since 2014
Ah the unpredictability of American sports, with their college drafts, salary caps and communist attitude to spending limits. Not for them the ridiculous European soccer system, where two teams dominate endlessly, reaching the finals year after year. You what? Ah…
For the fourth year in succession, the Cleveland Cavaliers will take on the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, and once again it is the best player against the best team. Aside from LBJ, there isn’t much to love about the Cavaliers. Even those drafted in to help the main man out, such as Kevin Love and Kyle Korver haven’t really worked out this season.
Thus despite some regular season complacency, Golden State Warriors will start as the overwhelming favourites. Kevin Durant, Steph Curry (hell, even an out-of-form Steph Curry), Klay Thompson – there are match-winners throughout the roster, and it is hard to make a case against them. So the betting has to move away from the outright towards other punts.
Will it be 4-0? As mentioned, the Warriors have switched off a few times this season, and it is hard to see them maintain sufficient focus to whitewash Cleveland. Paddy Power will give you 9/2 on 4-2 to Golden State and we think that is terrific value.
We also like Klay Thompson at 14/1 with the same bookmaker to be the Finals MVP. Often overshadowed by his Splash Brother Curry, he is the man in better form right now.
