German GP 2014

The Formula One season arrives in Germany this weekend and it’s the year of Hockenheim which now alternates annually with Nurbugring.
Fernando Alonso is a 50/1 shot with Bet365 despite having three previous victories on the circuit to his name, including the two most recent, in 2010 and 2012. However with no wins yet this season it could be too much for the Ferrari driver to take first spot. We like Alonso for a podium finish however and will back him at 7/2 with Ladbrokes. Take that 50/1 each way (first two places) for a speculative punt in case he snatches second.
The two Mercedes drivers, Rosberg and Hamilton lead the way at the top of the standings and it’ll be a shock if one of them doesn’t win this weekend. The fact it’s 25/1 the field behind those two tells you everything you need to know. Hamilton will hope to build on the momentum of winning last time out at Silverstone, but is potentially slightly skinny at a general 4/7. Should he miss out on pole in qualifying he could be worth backing at a bigger price. Rosberg has never finished better than eighth on the circuit and we imagine Hamilton will see the win home.
Sebastian Vettel could be another driver to keep on side this Sunday. The German is currently sixth in the standings having largely struggled this season but on home soil and with some good work in Silverstone behind him there’s every reason to be confident of a top six finish. At 2/5 with PaddyPower you won’t get rich but we’d expect to see him ride home your money.
