Four to Watch – Euro 2012

Rio will be watching it at home, and that is good enough for us. Sit back, relax, and enjoy three weeks of gorgeous football. Here are four bets to help fund the inevitable wake the night England crash out.
The European Championships Golden Boot market is always a tricky one to navigate – if Savo Milosevic can win it, surely anyone can. Mario Gomez is the 8/1 favourite, reflecting both his excellent club form and the attacking nature of Germany’s game these days. However we like the look of Karim Benzema at 14s. The Frenchman scored 32 goals for Real Madrid this season and we can’t see France falling before the semi-finals, so he should get enough games to bag the 4/5 goals required. With Ribery and Nasri in supply, chances won’t be at a premium.
We’re not always keen to back favourites, but in the market as to which teams will compete in the final, we can’t look far beyond Germany and Spain at 7/1. Both should win their groups to ensure they are on different paths to the final.
Germany are a 3/1 chance to be the top scorers at Euro 2012. Having rammed home 34 goals in qualifying, the likes of Ozil and Gotze should provide plenty of ammunition for Klose, Podolski, Muller and Gomez.
One final bet we like the look of is for Mesut Ozil to be the player of the tournament at 16/1 – if the Germans win he will be crucial to their success
