Far More Entertaining than Egg & Spoon
Yes yes, there is the Premier League title to think about. But who really cares about that, given it will be won by no more than a handful of teams, all of whom have won it quite recently anyway? It is the egg and spoon of Premier League betting kids.
What we are far more into, is the good old sack race? All 20 entrants can win it (or should that be lose it,) and with so many clubs taking on new gaffers in the past twelve months, never has the field been more open.
Alan Pardew is rightly the bookies favourite right now. After all, would you want to work for Joe Kinnear? But there are other decent candidates lurking, notably second favourite and a man never reluctant to hurl his toys out of a pram at a moment’s notice, Michael Laudrup.
Further down the list, we think the value could be old Bobby Martinez up at Everton. Not only does he have to contend with maintaining an over-performing outfit from the Moyes era, but he seemingly believes the way to do it is to bring over a lump of Wigan players (and not even the good ones), as well as Wigan staff, including whoever had the gumption to call himself the defensive coach at the JJB. If early matches are lost, Bill Kenwright could panic, especially if the fan pressure is applied to him personally (as it often is at Goodison.) 40/1 with Paddy Power, is the sort of price we like a lot. Get involved!
