England vs Ukraine – World Cup Qualifiers Sept 2013

Kevin Keegan famously said he’s not the sort of manager to go looking for a draw in Ukraine, but then again he was also a manager for a Group Stage exit at Euro 2000. Anyway, he isn’t in charge of the England team today, Roy Hodgson is and well, ‘Woy’ is exactly the sort of man for a draw in Ukraine in the biggest England game since Friday night.

England have drawn their two proper tests on the road in this group, in Montengro and Poland whilst going into the game knowing they need to avoid defeat, will surely limit the amount England are willing to commit forward. It seems the most likely outcome, yet is the highest odds of all three possible results – so we have to snap up the 23/10 offered by PaddyPower.

If you’re looking for a correct score, it’s hard to look beyond the 1-1 offering at 6/1 from Ladbrokes. This was the scoreline for both England draws so far on the road in the group and both came after England had taken first half leads. That leads us to consider the England HT Draw FT option which is a mighty tempting 14/1 with Ladbrokes.

Intriguingly Ukraine was the last country to stop England scoring in one of their away World Cup Qualifiers – back in October 2009 but these days you’d always back England for at least one goal. However, we can’t see the home side managing two which leads us to back under 2.5 goals at 1.65 on Betfair.
