Midweek Prem Preview
Monday – West Ham United vs Stoke City
It is beginning to look increasingly like Paul Lambert was hired to get Stoke straight back up next year. Just one win since his appointment and four defeats in a rown has made this a must-win tonight (they also have a horrific goal difference.) Following the kerfuffle against Burnley, things seemed to have calmed down at the London Stadium, as the fans rallied to see them beat Southampton. There was also a creditable point at Stamford Bridge last time out. Just one defeat in six for the Hammers at home, and we fancy a draw in this one at 5/2 on the Betfair Sportsbook.
Tuesday – Brighton & Hove Albion vs Tottenham Hotspur
Chris Hughton has done a brilliant job this season steering Brighton to safety, but they have taken only one point from their last four matches, and are limping over the line. Spurs meanwhile had won six on the bounce and were 14 unbeaten before Saturday’s disappointing defeat to the new champions. Delving deeper, we find they have won eight out of 10 on the road against teams 9th or below (a possible reason why they are above Arsenal…), and won a staggering 21 out of 22 matches against newly-promoted clubs under Pochettino (they haven’t even conceded a goal against any of the three new teams this season.) 0-3 is 14s on the Betfair exchange, and with Harry Kane normally in the mood at this time of the season, that is our bet.
