Championship Playoff Final 2018 – Fulham vs Aston Villa

So for once it seems, justice has been done. The two best teams over the course of the season went up, and the next two will slug it out at Wembley to decide who joins them. And what a match-up it promises to be. Age against youth. Big club versus little club. Old school English takes on sophisticated continentals. This is an occasion with something for everyone.
Fulham start the match as firm favourites, given their incredible form over the past six months. Yet it must be noted that they have wobbled twice in the past three matches when the pressure was really on, most untypically against Villa’s rivals Birmingham City on the last day of the season, when a win would have sent them up automatically. Will the likes of Ryan Sessegnon wilt again under an even more focused light?
If they do, there are no shortage of Villa players waiting to gobble up the chance of promotion. Chester, Jedinak, Elmohamady, Grabban and Snodgrass have all done course and distance before at this level, whilst John Terry will certainly not suffer any pre-match nerves. Yet we think it could be the least experienced Villa player, Jack Grealish, who wins it for the claret and blue. Grealish shone in the 2015 FA Cup semi-final, and has proven this season that he is the man for the biggest occasions, particularly if they are in Ibiza. 1-0 Villa with Super Jack the matchwinner, is available at 20/1 with our good friends at Paddy Power.
