4 to Watch
Liverpool vs Ludogorets Razgrad
The right match at the right time for Brendan Rodgers. Outwitted as ever at Anfield by Paul Lambert, doubts are already surfacing of Liverpool’s ability to make next season’s Champions League, given the weekend resurgence of Manchester United. So no better opponent to announce Liverpool’s arrival into this season’s beast than Ludogorets, Champions of Bulgaria but Group B big gun fodder. Ever-strong against the very weak at Anfield (seven teams were dispatched by three goals or more last season), expect Balotelli to shine and Liverpool to win big – backing them even on a -4 handicap if available.
Borussia Dortmund vs Arsenal
The first Champions League encounter of the season which should induce a “woof” from even the most cynical of Champions League cynics. And thought Marco Reus may be injured, but Shinji Kagawa was back to his merry best at the weekend for die Borussen. Their 5th meeting with Arsenal in just over three seasons, we think Klopp will have Wenger’s number on this one, having taken just one point from their last two clashes at the Westfalenstadion. 2-1 Dortmund at 9.8 looks lovely.
Chelsea vs FC Schalke 04
Yawn. Home win. Easily. Stop wasting our time Schalke! Chelsea to win both halves at 2.6.
Bayern Munich vs Manchester City
And this is the problem with the Champions League. Even Manchester City, the most nouveau of nouveau riche, are probably sick of Bayern, having played them four times in the last three seasons. Home win. 2-0 Bayern pays out at 10s with Betfair.
