Cue Hovis Music

Yorkshire comes to North London this Bank Holiday weekend, as various flat-cap types wheel their bicycles up Wembley Way for a Leeds derby Challenge Cup Final. And at stake, the first club from the Red Rose county to win it at the New Wembley, with Tony Smith’s side looking for their first win since 1999. The Tigers by contrast were last seen in the final of the Challenge Cup in the 1985-86 season, where they edged out Hull Kingston Rovers 15-14

The Tigers start as huge underdogs (most bookmakers are giving the Rhinos an eight point headstart on the handicap), with Leeds just 4/9 to win the game with our good friends at Ladbrokes.

The Tigers boast a fine record in Challenge Cup finals though, having won four of the five they have contested (their only defeat coming in their last appearance when they were downed by Wigan in 1992.) They also won the most recent all-Yorkshire Wembley showcase, although have lost their last six Challenge Cup Finals in a row since 2000, despite winning five of their last seven Super League finals.

Both sides suffered horrific defeats last weekend, with Leeds chucking away a 22 point lead and handing the Broncos their first win of the season, and Castleford getting mounted 48-10 at Warrington. The latter have however been the surprise package in 2014 Superleague, fully deserving their top five status.

Back Leeds, but we also like the bet on Luke Dorn to score the last try tomorrow (14/1 with Laddies), as has happened three times already this season.
