British Grand Prix 2015

Up all night to get lucky? Try letting F1 put you to sleep.

Betting on Formula 1 is a little bit like betting on two flies racing up a wall, albeit a little less exciting. Mercedes two drivers have won seven out of eight this season, the only blip being in the searing heat of Malaysia. In qualifying, they are even more dominant, with a 100% record of securing pole. Given every race this season has been won from the front row, the odds of an upset are slimmer than Lewis Hamilton’s latest model lovelie.

If there is to be one, perhaps Hamilton’s celeb-filled lifestyle could be a factor. Having morphed from a dull, tax-dodger from Stevenage, into the best mate of cool dude Pharrell, there is concern in some quarters that the Brit could be taking his eye off the wheel. With Rosberg having taken three of the last four races, surely Lewis would have been better off working on the car, with the German rumoured to have nailed over 100 laps of testing whilst Hamilton was at Glastonbury

Even in Malaysia, both Hamilton and Rosberg finished on the podium, as they have in every race to date. The remaining slot has been filled five times by Sebastian Vettel, so mathematics suggest he is a wise bet for the third slot.

The also-ran places could belong to Force India, the local lads, who went well last time out in Austria with both their cars scoring points for the first time.

Be patriotic though. Back Hamilton at 1.6 to be smiling on Sunday evening.
