6 Nations 2012 – The Final Weekend…

Egg-chasing peanut-kicking frenzy reaches a climax.

After a tournament incomparably better than the previous few, the RBS Six Nations ends this weekend, with two key fixtures that will decide the destination of this year’s title. Wales host France in Cardiff on Saturday afternoon with a Grand Slam in their sights, whilst England must steam-roller the Irish at Twickenham later that day, and hope for a rare favour from the French, to hand Stuart Lancaster a trophy, and possibly even a job (that is assuming Harry Redknapp doesn’t fancy it of course.)

The French rarely go through a tournament without one eye-catching performance, and in 2012, we are still waiting. Winning in Cardiff will not be easy, but the French hammered Warburton & Co 28-9 last season, and then repeated the trick in the World Cup. Don’t rule out an upset, and at 2/1 with Ladbrokes, Saint-Andre’s charges are certainly worth a squirt.

England’s result, will very much be affected by what has gone before. A Welsh defeat by around 10 points or so, would mean England needing to spank Ireland, and win by over 28 points to take the 6 Nations. But charged with playing such offensive rugby, the back door could easily swing open, and Ireland may make hay. 10/11 with a -3 handicap (also with our friends at Ladbrokes) is a fair price for the boys in green. We would certainly recommend however, waiting until just before kick-off to place any bets.
