Progressive slots come in two sizes: 3 reel and 5 reel, but there are some whopping jackpots to be had if you know the games to play. It's not that uncommon for some games such as the excellent Major Millions slot or Cryptologic's entertaining Millionaire's Club slot to pay in excess of $1 million. In fact as I write, the latter's jackpot is sitting on a staggering $3.5 million. Now that would be nice! And you can actually win it from as little as 90 cents a spin. Hmmm...why am I here?

Talking of which, in general though with a few exceptions, the jackpots can be won for stakes from as little as 25c on games such as Tunzamunni or 75c on a number of games including the Crypto slot Triple Olives. Tunzamunni hs been known to pay over $100,000 for it's 25 cent stake, whil emost fo the others fall imbetween $15,000 and $50,000 at this level. Other low denomination jackpot slots include the popular Wow Pot slot, Fruit Fiesta and the Cash Splash progressive, with the latter two coming in both 3 reel and 5 reel versions. Another progressive slot which comes in two versions is Treasure Nile which aside from the standard 15 line version available in Microgaming casino downloads, is also available to play on cellphones where casinos have a mobile version available.

A relatively new idea introduced at some casinos is the Rapid Fire Jackpot Slot, a jackpot of several hundred dollars which is randomly awarded. These as you'd expect are fairly regular and the higher the denomination you play at, the more likely you are to win. Similar in a way to the new Marvel slots which include Blade, X-Men, Thor, the Punisher and The Hulk slot. These latter slots also combine innovative bonus rounds to boot with the exception of "Thor" and "Blade" which have Free Spin bonus rounds (even better IMO!). To be perfectly honest, the Marvel Slots are the only real reason I wander over to these casinos at all, although their video pokers are entertaining also.

What I find surprising is that a number of the Progressive slots can actually be profitable, albeit in a smaller way, than many of the bonus slots, even without the Jackpot hit. It's not uncommon to find myself "up" on Millionaire's Club or Major Millions and while Tunzamunni does tend to be a downward spiral more often than not, the low denomination still means plenty of fun with the chance of a big hit. Some are less than inspiring it's true - Rags To Riches was one of those until they recently introduced a 5 reel version.

It's worth noting that Progressive jackpots aren't just limited to slots. There is also a video poker oofering, Jackpot Deuces Video Poker, Super Jackpot Video Poker and several table games including (but not limited to) Progressive Blackjack and some versions of the Keno game, the closest thing you'll find to the lottery in a casino!

While jackpots are obviously rare, they can be hit as I have proved with my $16k win from a $3 stake on Triple Olives at Intercasino and if you are a member of the various popular online casino forums you will from time to time see players post progressive slot screenshot wins.
